Date Joined WV and HB: 1974

Started playing at the age of 9 with Bury Silver Band and made rapid progress to assistant Principal cornet within two years.

A founder member of the Bury Music Services Brass Band which for most of the period in the band was principal cornet.

At the age of 11 I was invited up to Whitworth Vale & Healey and offered a seat on 4th man down.

By the age of 15 I moved on to principal cornet after the departure of the late great Brian Cronshaw (ex bumper up to Derek Garside at CWS Band)

Playing highlight has to be the 1983 national finals playing in the Albert Hall
